Putting People First

Hi! I am Siham. I am running for City Council Ward 1 because I am committed to our community of Moorhead. We have incredible potential and wonderful growth. I would like to be a voice for all. I plan to foster engagement and be available to residents' comments, concerns and suggestions. My People First priorities are expanding affordable housing, connecting communities, and making sure our government accountable to the people of Moorhead.

About me

I grew up in Moorhead, in Ward 1. I have lived here for most of my life. My family and I were fortunate to call Moorhead their home as New Americans. I attended Washington Elementary School, Robert Asp Elementary School, Moorhead Junior High and Moorhead High School. My siblings and I are all proud Spuds alumni.

Because Moorhead has given so much to me, it has always been important to me to give back to Moorhead. I have made being active in the community a part of each phase of my life through volunteer work and community engagement.

I am the sitting Vice Chair of the Moorhead Human Rights Commission, serve on the MoorHeart committee, am an Emerging Leader through the United Way of Cass Clay, and serve on the Board of New American Consortium. I work with new community members in securing employment and safe housing, and being active citizens of the community.

I graduated from Moorhead High School in 2009 and from Concordia College in 2013. I work at NDSU as the Inclusive Recruitment and Engagement Specialist and also work with families in two Moorhead properties as site manager. Previously I worked at Cass County Social Services.
